The first Chinese version of Rasch model-based item analysis and test equating system: Rasch-GZ is officially launched
Development and Origin of Rasch-GZ
Rasch-GZ is a comprehensive upgrade based on the previous version of GITEST, which has been developed and used since 1984 and has been adopted by many universities, research institutions, and testing centers in China
1984
GITEST was born
1990
GITEST became the dedicated software for the National College Entrance Examination equating project by the National Education Examinations Authority
2021
GITEST was fully upgraded to Rasch-GZ
Future
Rasch-GZ expands beyond Asia to the world
Rasch-GZ evolved from GITTEST, which was initially developed by the doctoral program at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. GITEST has been developed and used since 1984 and has been adopted by many universities, research institutions, and testing centers in China. It was the dedicated software used by the National Education Examinations Authority during the ten-year (1990-1999) equating project for the National College Entrance Examination, providing precise and stable estimates for item difficulty and examinee ability parameters. It demonstrated equal efficiency to foreign counterparts like BILOG, PARSCALE, and WINSTEPS in test equating. During the 1990-1999 decade of national college entrance examination equating, it completed nearly a million statistical estimation runs. In 2021, GITEST was fully upgraded to Rasch-GZ, which is currently used as a research and thesis writing tool by master's students at many universities in Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and the City University of Macau's Faculty of Education doctoral program, as well as at the American Deep Education Institute. The "Pacific-Rim Objective Measurement Symposium" (PROMS) is held annually in countries around the Pacific Rim. Chinese scholars presenting at these conferences have consistently used GITEST's estimated values as the basis for objective testing research data, gaining recognition from international peers.
